Fluoride And Sealants
As cliché as it sounds, we agree with the saying that goes: “An ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure.” Fluoride has been known and proven to be effective in strengthening the enamel of the tooth, and so we offer fluoride treatments at least every time you come in for your regular cleanings. It is a simple and easy way to help prevent cavities. Just keep in mind that there are also other factors that encourage cavities to form, so you would still have to keep brushing and flossing at home, and visit us regularly in order to be cavity free!
Sealants, on the other hand, help prevent cavities by acting as a physical barrier on susceptible areas of the tooth to lessen the areas where bacteria can lodge on to and release their by-products that cause cavities. They are usually applied to newly erupted permanent teeth.
